The Department of Community Oncology at The Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) commemorated World Cancer Day 2025 with a special program held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Auditorium, Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, cantered on the theme "United by Unique: Celebrating Cancer Heroes in Our Society," the event witnessed an overwhelming participation of 450 cancer survivors, families, healthcare professionals, and invited guests.

The highlight of the program was the heartfelt sharing of personal stories by 15 long-term cancer survivors, offering insights into their journeys through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Their narratives underscored the power of resilience, emotional strength, and the vital role of community and medical support.

The event was graced by dignitaries including Smt. Darshanaben Vaghela, MLA (Asarwa) and Shri Harshadkumar Patel, IAS, Commissioner of Health, Gujarat, whose presence added significance to the occasion. Their messages emphasized the importance of survivor-led inspiration, early detection, and continued public engagement in the fight against cancer.

The program concluded with a symbolic balloon release and distribution of mementos to all survivors, reinforcing a message of unity, courage, and hope in the ongoing battle against cancer.
